Oliver Bearman is in principle the replacement for the banned Kevin Magnussen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This is what GPblog has learned in the Monza paddock. An official announcement from the team is obviously expected shortly.

It is still unclear whether Haas will appeal - or can appeal at all - the automatic penalty Magnussen received following an incident with Pierre Gasly at the Italian Grand Prix. That earned the Dane a time penalty and two penalty points. He crossed the limit of 12 penalty points in a year, which results in an automatic ban. Should the penalty be reversed, Bearman will obviously remain sidelined and Magnussen will compete in Baku.

Return for Bearman in Formula 1

For Bearman, it will be the second Grand Prix of his career. Earlier this season, the young Briton came on as a substitute for Ferrari when Carlos Sainz was struck down by acute appendicitis in Jeddah. There, Bearman surprised friend and foe. That performance paved the way for a seat at Haas in the 2025 season. Then the current F2 driver will become the teammate of Esteban Ocon.

This weekend, Bearman won the sprint race in F2 in Monza. On Saturday, he drove from ninth place to his second win of the season.
