Aston Martin have confirmed this week that Adrian Newey will join the British team, much to the delight of team principal Mike Krack. The Luxembourger argues that it will now be easier for Aston Martin to attract better drivers as well. Could a driver who achieved success with the British designer, Max Verstappen, also join the Silverstone-based team in the future?

Krack: 'With Newey the project is more credible'

Ahead of the Azerbaijan GP, the team principal was overjoyed with Newey joining the technical line-up. "I think it will make a difference for everybody, starting with the staff. I think when you manage to appoint Adrian Newey it's proof that the project is credible, that the whole vision of Lawrence is not only words, but it is really action, that we can take confidence of as a team. Not underdogs anymore like it used to be in the past," Krack told GPblog and others in Baku.

"It's a team that should be confident that they can do it. But then also, you have a completely different approach with partners, and the same for race drivers. So I think it opens a lot of doors for the future," Krack underlined.

Krack declares 'door is open' for Verstappen

Max Verstappen has won each of his world titles in a car designed by Newey, and previously said he had a good relationship with the Briton. When asked whether Verstappen would therefore be welcomed at Aston Martin, Krack answer was clear: "The door for Max Verstappen is always open, for every team."
