Can Perez's unfortunate crash hurt Red Bull in Singapore?
After a great start to the season for Max Verstappen and Red Bull, the Austrians are now on the back foot in the constructors' standings, behind McLaren. Sergio Perez was on course to earn a good result in Baku, but the Mexican's race ended in the wall. Christian Horner hopes that the crash will not hurt the team in Singapore, he told GPblog among others.
For the first time in several Grands Prix, Red Bull Racing, with Sergio Perez, in the running to challenge for the win in Azerbaijan, but as Oscar Piastri could build a lead to his chasers, the Mexican crashed with Carlos Sainz's Ferrari.
New parts to the car already being introduced in Baku for the team. According to Horner, this was also evident based on how Perez was driving. "He was demonstrating race-winning performance there today. Of course, it's a track that he's always excelled at, but I think we've understood a few things with the car, and it was good to see, certainly, Checo's car in contention for the win throughout the race."
More parts for Red Bull in Singapore after Perez crash?
After Perez's crash, the team will have to rebuild one of their cars for the Singapore GP. Horner underlined his team are working hard to deliver parts in time for the next weekend. "[The crash] won't help. I mean, the guys and girls have been working round the clock, and they'll be in tonight in the factory to try to produce parts to get to Singapore. So, we've still got five days till that weekend starts."
