Zak Brown responds to the FIA intervention on McLaren's rear wing
McLaren CEO Zak Brown has responded to Red Bull Racing's complaint about how much his team's rear wing is moving. Red Bull filed a complaint with the FIA about McLaren's rear wing and the FIA then responded. They told McLaren to make some changes and the exact same rear wing will not be seen again.
The feature created a mini-DRS effect down the straight, which could've helped Oscar Piastri keep Charles Leclerc behind as they battle for the win in the streets of Baku last week. The Woking-based team's rear wing did pass the FIA test but they were asked to make some adjustments in Singapore. Brown responded to the news McLaren will have to make a change.
"There is a lot of noise around it. It obviously complied with all the regulations, but it's just gonna be a minor adjustment to our Baku wing. It won't make much of a difference so, I'm quite relaxed about it," Brown told Viaplay.
Brown not worried about adjustments to rear wing
McLaren took the lead in the Constructors' World Championship for the first time during Brown's tenure. They ended Red Bull streak at the top of the standing which dated back to the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix. Brown senses the attention. "There's been a lot of noise around it but it passed all its tests. We're now leading the constructors."
"I would expect while every team is focused on making their car faster, they're also pretty focused on trying to make ours slower. And that's fine. That's the name of the game. It's quite a nice compliment to have everyone staring at our car trying to slow it down. But we're not worried," Brown added.
