Jos Verstappen speaks out on Max's community service penalty: 'Ridiculous!'

After during the Thursday press conference, Max Verstappen described his car as "f***ed", the Dutchman was ordered to complete community service by the stewards. Verstappen clearly expressed his views his penalty, and was supported also by fellow drivers and personnel in the paddock. His father, Jos Verstappen also find the penalty ridiculous.

Just before Verstappen did say the F-word during FIA's press conference, the organisation's presided, Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed he wants less swearing in the competition. Therefore, after the three-time world champion had to go to the stewards, he received the aforementioned penalty.

The Red Bull Racing driver completely disagreed with the decision, and therefore, at later press conferences on Saturday and Sunday, he only answered questions by saying a few words. He also clearly indicated his problem, telling journalists to meet him outside, where he would answer in detail.

Meanwhile, Verstappen's father, Jos Verstappen, was not present in Singapore, as he was busy with the Hellendoorn Rally at the time. During the East Belgian Rally this weekend, Verstappen Sr nevertheless shared his opinion on the penalty his son received. "I think that's the most ridiculous thing of all," the Dutchman told Motorsport.com. "I don't think the FIA is doing a very good job," he continued. While laughing, he also added that he had better not comment too much about it.

The former F1 driver also reffered to the fact that similar penalties can also be given in rallying. Indeed, rally legend Sebastian Ogier was given a suspended fine of €30,000, after he for his comments at race officials.
