Hamilton reacts to Red Bull controversy: 'God knows how long they had it'

Lewis Hamilton seemed to vindicate Red Bull Racing amid the controversy surrounding the Austrian team ahead of the United States. The Mercedes driver actually praised Red Bull for being innovative and doesn't believe the change made would be a reason for being beaten in the F1 Championship if that was to be the case.
Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, there was a suggestion that a team could change the ride height between qualifying and the race using a particular device. The FIA said they would strictly monitor it during the US Grand Prix weekend, and Red Bull then admitted they had a device to alter the front bib height. However, the Austrian team claimed this device couldn't be used once the car was assembled.
How did Hamilton react to the Red Bull news?
"The name of our sport is all about innovation. Red Bull have been the leaders and they've innovated. Ultimately, all the teams look at the rules and they try and find how to massage those rules and get the most out of it, even if it's just over the edge a little bit," Hamilton told Sky Sports before suggesting they need to police it better.
"You just need to continue to evolve and be better policed. But at the end of the day, they've done a better job. God knows how long they've had that and they've been winning championships. Maybe that stops now. I don't think that's the one thing that's going to stop them. We've got to continue to be innovators and leading rather than trying to catch up," Hamilton concluded.
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are set to go head-to-head in the final six race weekends of the 2024 Formula 1 season. The Brit praised the FIA for the intervention but also suggested it won't change anything in the scheme of things. Verstappen also dismissed the fuss about the topic.
