Norris is not concerned with Verstappen: 'Max finishes where he finishes'
Lando Norris isn't concerned about what Max Verstappen does during the coming six Grand Prix weekends. The British driver is only focusing on his own task, which is to win and earn as many points as possible. The two drivers are fighting each other for the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.
"You pay attention to every driver. Yeah, I mean, that's my job is to look at onboards and look at data. But it's got nothing to do with me. If Max qualifies first, fifth or tenth, it doesn't change what I have to do. My job is to try and win and get the most points I can for myself," explained Norris.
Norris versus Verstappen in the championship
With six race weekends to go, Norris is 52 points behind the Dutchman. The United States Grand Prix takes place this weekend. It is a sprint weekend, so Norris has a two chances to close the gap. But it also works the other way. Verstappen could also extend his lead.
"You just want to be in that flow," Norris continued. "You want that rhythm of me gaining points on him and never kind of a hold, and that's how things have gone the last few weeks. But now I just focus on myself, like I said before, and Max finishes wherever he finishes," said the McLaren driver, who says he is not concerned by the three-time Formula One world champion.
