Perez rejects focusing on VCARB drivers hoping for Red Bull promotion
Sergio Perez would rather focus on racing than where his future lies in Formula One. Ahead of the US Grand Prix, Red Bull's team principal Christian Horner said that it is important for the Mexican to perform, given at VCARB, there are eager drivers to earn promotion. For now, Perez has different issues on his mind.
Currently, Yuki Tsunoda and recently-promoted Liam Lawson drive for Red Bull's junior team, with both drivers hoping to get a shot at becoming Max Verstappen's teammate in the 2025 season. Should the team not be satisfied with the Mexican, there is a possibility of that happening, as Christian Horner said Perez needs to improve, while top advisor Helmut Marko has also declared the youngsters are in a shootout for possible promotion.
Perez on his situation at Red Bull
Perez however is currently focusing on different things. "Well, it's not something that I really think about," the Red Bull driver began. "I think we are fully focused as a team on the upgrade package, on bringing our season back on track. I know that if the car is competitive, if we fix the issue, we'll be back to being competitive."
"We know what the issue has been for a long period of time. So I'm more concerned on that than reading the news or getting any headlines," Perez concluded in the United States.
