How Christian Horner thought Liam Lawson performed in US Grand Prix
Christian Horner was left very impressed by Liam Lawson's performance during the United States Grand Prix. The New Zealander hadn't competed in F1 since his five-race stint in 2023 but immediately scored points upon his return to the sport. This is despite starting from the back of the grid and comes after another disappointing performance from Red Bull's Sergio Perez.
What did Horner think about Lawson's race?
Earlier, Alonso branded Lawson as an "idiot" after the two battled together on track. Horner alluded to this in his analysis.
"I think if you're getting into a spat and getting your elbows out with Fernando on your first race back in, you're doing alright. And I think that he drove an exceptional race today from 19th to ninth," Horner said in the paddock after the US Grand Prix.
The New Zealander is frequently mentioned as a possible replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing. The Mexican is still not performing at the level Helmut Marko would like to see from him. Even after the US Grand Prix, the Austrian insisted that he should be getting better results.
Lawson has replaced Daniel Ricciardo, who didn't beat Yuki Tsunoda. The Australian ended his time at VCARB with the fastest race lap. The point for the fastest race lap will be scrapped from 2025, so one less point will be handed out in the future.
