Jordan lambasts Norris for his performances with 'dicked around' approach

Eddie Jordan has lambasted Lando Norris for his performances during the 2024 Formula 1 season. The former F1 team boss believes the McLaren driver should've won more races than he has and hopes he looks at himself in the mirror during the winter break. Jordan isn't confident Norris will be able to challenge Max Verstappen in the future either, as he claims he "hasn't got it".

Since his victory at the Miami Grand Prix, Norris has had a slim chance of fighting Max Verstappen for the 2024 Formula 1 championship. He slowly started to cut into his lead until Verstappen significantly opened it again in Brazil. The gap now stands at 62 points, with three Grands Prix and one sprint remaining. The 24-year-old still has a mathematical chance of winning, but it seems highly unlikely. Verstappen only has to finish ahead of the Brit in Las Vegas to become Formula 1 world champion for the fourth time.

Is Lando Norris good enough to be a Formula 1 World Champion?

David Coulthard and Jordan discussed Norris' form on their Formula For Success Podcast. Former F1 driver Coulthard defended Norris and expected him to learn from his experiences and improve. But Jordan isn't convinced.

"I'm sorry, I have to call you to some form of order there. Lando hasn't quite got there yet. He hasn't got there on the start. He hasn't got there on the pole position run to the corner. He has the speed beyond doubt. But there's nothing in me that tells me that I've seen in Lando something that I saw what Max could do on Sunday. Nothing. Nothing. I'm sorry it's just not there," Jordan said before giving him some advice for the upcoming winter break.

"Lando has to look at himself long and hard this winter in the mirror and say to himself if I'm going to be a great world champion, I have a lot to learn here. I need to start replaying those videos about what it really is like to be hard, tough and victorious. I'm sorry, at this moment in time, he hasn't got it. It's a fact. He hasn't translated those into race wins. He dicked around on the podium. He's dicked around on the start line. Honestly, how many races should he have won this year?," Jordan asked Coulthard.

The former Red Bull driver admitted Norris should've picked up more wins. Norris has a total of three wins during the 2024 Formula 1 season compared to Verstappen's eight. Verstappen ended his winless GP run in Brazil, which dated back to the Spanish Grand Prix in June.
