Williams masterpiece: How were their two cars rebuilt in record time?
The last Grand Prix, which was hosted in Sao Paulo, did not go as planned for Williams. Over the course of that Sunday, Alexander Albon and Franco Colapinto have both completely destroyed their cars, that the team had to rebuild in extremely short time. In a video, the team now show the enormous work that has been completed to repair their cars.
Sunday went down terribly for Williams at Interlagos. First, during qualifying, both Albon and Colapinto crashed out, and only the Argentinians car could be repaired for the GP hosted on the same day. What was built up then disappeared completely, has Colapinto one again destroyed his car in major accident. At the end of the day, the team stood with two heavily-damaged cars and a big task ahead.
Day and night work for Williams
Williams have three weeks to prepare for the next weekend in Las Vegas on paper, however, the problem is that first the cars had to be brought back to the UK, and now they have to be shipped to the US. In such a short amount of time, Williams worked day and night for five days.
In large crates, the pieces were returned to Groves, where mechanics examined each part and decided on what could be reused, and afterwards, the new parts had to be manufactured at their factory. Just in time, the team finished ahead of the Las Vegas GP, that is scheduled to be hosted this weekend.
