Max Verstappen secured his fourth
F1 title at the
Formula 1 race in Las Vegas this weekend. The
Red Bull Racing driver finished fifth, keeping
Lando Norris behind him. His dad,
Jos Verstappen, commented on the world title win.
In fact, Verstappen was in second place throughout the race in Las Vegas, but the RB20 could not keep up with the speed of Mercedes and
Ferrari. The Dutchman did not take any risks, letting
Lewis Hamilton,
Carlos Sainz and
Charles Leclerc pass. Verstappen's dad concluded that he wasn't as dominant this year.
"It was sometimes quite difficult not to pick up the phone and call someone," Verstappen senior stated to
Formula 1.nl after his son did not win any races for a long time.
"We have had more enjoyable seasons where Max has been champion," he added.
Verstappen can call himself a four-time world champion after the street race in Las Vegas. The 27-year-old is now level with
Sebastian Vettel and
Alain Prost in terms of Championship wins.
