Vasseur has his say on whether he is worried about Hamilton's recent form

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has commented on whether there is any worry within the team about the current form of Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion will make the huge switch from Mercedes to the Scuderia for the 2025 season as he hunts for a record-breaking eighth title, but his form this season at the German team has been very disappointing.

Since joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton and the German team have formed one of the greatest driver and team partnerships Formula 1 has ever seen, winning six drivers' championships and eight constructors' championships since the 39-year-old came across from McLaren.

However, since the agonising 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that saw Hamilton lose out to Max Verstappen on the final lap, Mercedes have struggled to find their way back to the front of the grid. Despite that, Hamilton had continued to show his fantastic pace, finishing third in the drivers' standings last year behind the dominant Red Bull pair of Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

But in 2024, it has been a disaster for the Brit, unable to get to grips with the W15, and as a result, he sits seventh in the standings. During his recent P12 at the Qatar Grand Prix, he asked if he could box the car and retire to not finish the race, compounding what has been a miserable season.

Vasseur "not worried at all" about Hamilton joining Ferrari

Speaking after the Grand Prix in the Middle East to several media sources, including GPblog, Vasseur was asked about the declining performances from Hamilton that have been seen throughout the season and whether he was worried about the 39-year-old joining the Prancing Horse next season.

But the Frenchman quickly dismissed those thoughts: "Not at all. Have a look at the 50 laps he did in Las Vegas. He started from P10, and then he finished on the gearbox of [George] Russell. I am not worried at all."

It was a great drive from the Brit that highlights that there is still plenty of pace that he can bring, which was also shown when he brilliantly won the British Grand Prix for the ninth time in his career in front of his home fans.
