Besides the constructors' title that was still to be fought for in Abu Dhabi, the second spot in the drivers' championship was also undecided. Lando Norris eventually won the last Grand Prix, securing P2 in the championship.

The start in Abu Dhabi was chaotic. Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri touched each other, for which the Dutchman eventually received a ten-second time penalty. In terms of the drivers' championship, both men had little to lose.

The battle for second place in the championship was between Norris and Charles Leclerc. Due to a ten-spot grid penalty, Leclerc started from P19, and the Monegasque had a strong first lap that saw him drive straight into the points. Norris eventually managed to win the Grand Prix, keeping the second spot.
