Horner comments on 2026 regs: 'Rules changing when it's spicy!'

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner may be enjoying a well-earned holiday, but his focus is already turning toward the next two Formula 1 seasons. As Red Bull's team principal, Horner faces significant challenges ahead. The competition closed the gap significantly in the most recent F1 season, and 2026 will bring a major shake-up with entirely new regulations.
'2026 will be the biggest reset in the last 60 years'
In 2022 and 2023, Red Bull and Max Verstappen set the standard in Formula 1. However, last season marked a shift. McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes consistently challenged the reigning champions, making life much tougher for them. While Verstappen secured his fourth driver's title, Red Bull was surpassed by McLaren and Ferrari in the constructors' standings.
Christian Horner has stated that his primary focus is on 2025, but he’s also keeping an eye on 2026. That year will bring significant changes to aerodynamic, engine, and chassis regulations—just as the competition in Formula 1 has become more intense than ever. "That often happens," Horner said after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"Formula 1's very good at changing the rules just as things are getting spicy. 2026 is the biggest reset in probably the last 60 years of Formula One, where both powertrain and chassis are changing. But it's the same for everyone. There'll be winners and losers from that. First of all, 2025 is where the focus will be." Horner explained.
Red Bull will be collaborating with Ford to create engines for 2026 and beyond. Honda will instead supply Aston Martin.
