Hamilton 'overshadows' Leclerc at Ferrari, pampered by luxury sponsor

Charles Leclerc was the adoration of Ferrari fans the world over and he was seen by the leadership at Ferrari, holistically, as the man who would bring the Driver's title back to Maranello. However, as of late, his new teammate, Lewis Hamilton, has been casting a shadow over the Monegasque, and luxury watch-maker, Richard Mille, has now added yet another parasol.

Lewis Hamilton's start to his stint at Ferrari could not be going better according to several reports. It is said the Briton is feeling better in the Italian marque's SF-23, one of the most difficult cars in the Scuderia's recent history, than he ever did in all the Mercedes he drove since the ground effect regulations were introduced. Indeed, the braking woes he had to cope with at Mercedes since 2022, are now, reportedly, a thing of the past.

Hamilton to wear 600k Richard Mille watch in 2025

Financially, of course, Lewis Hamilton's switch to Ferrari was also much discussed, and if the figures are accurate, the Briton's salary during his tenure at Maranello completely eclipses Leclerc's. In addition, Hamilton will now don a Richard Mille watch valued at $600,000USD, during the 2025 season. While at Mercedes, a IWC sponsored team, the Briton never wore a luxury watch that got close to his RM 74-02.

Richard Mille's catalogue describes the timepiece as a 18-carat red gold and black gold carbon, with an open-link bracelet. It took four years to develop, with layers of TPT carbon fused with gold leaf. Inside it features a tourbillon mechanism located at 6 o'clock.

Leclerc has to 'make due' with a more sport and 'humble' titanium and red gold RM 72-01 Flyback Chronograph, valued at 'only' $335,000USD. Looks like the Monegasque will have to take back his place as 'the favourite child' where it matters most: on the track, come March 16 at the 2025 season opener, the Australian Grand Prix.
