F1 Today | Papaya rules again in '25, Verstappen wants to improve, Haas finds trouble

The F1 75 event, commemorating the 75th anniversary of Formula One, which will see all teams reveal their 2025 livery, is scheduled for tomorrow and it signals that the start of the 2025 season is ever near. GPBlog brings you its usual round up of the most relevant news of the day.

McLaren brings back papaya rules for 2025 and Verstappen has room for improvement

Andrea Stella, McLaren's team principal has issued a veiled warning to his drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, ahead of the 2025 season and has announced that the 'papaya rules' will be back in full force again in the upcoming season. 

Max Verstappen has set a particular goal for 2025 and it has nothing to do with his RB21, but with improving on his own skills, something the rest of the drivers on the grid may not be too happy to hear from the already superlative Dutchman, who is also looking forward to partnering with new teammate Liam Lawson in the upcoming F1 season, ahead of which Verstappen also hopes Red Bull Racing can put together a much more solid performance.

The Schumacher family are seeking a harsher punishment for former bodyguard following a 'huge breach of trust', Aston Martin sneaks a preview of their 2025 livery and Haas encounters trouble during shakedown of their 2025 car. Valtteri Bottas and George Russell have buried the hatchet on their heated 2021 Imola incident and are now ready to work together as teammates in 2025.

In more Red Bull related news, the team's Technical Director, Pierre Waché, has expressed his opposing view of the 2026 rules, but has since focused his efforts on creating the fastst car possible. In FIA related news, the governing body has made good on its stricter conduct guidelines and has fined a WRC driver with a hefty sum following use of inappropriate language during a post session interview.
