After the end of the 2024 campaign, Yuki Tsunoda was told about Red Bull's decision of who gets to become Max Verstappen's teammate this upcoming. The Austrians chose Liam Lawson. Although the Japanese could not make the next step, he imagines his future inside the Red Bull family.
Tsunoda is now set to begin his fifth season with Racing Bulls (previously called Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri), and it seems like there is no way upwards for the driver within his current organisation. When he was asked about switching teams entering 2026, Tsunoda began: "I don't know," he began to GPblog among others.
He then found a loophole himself at the team that were called many different names over the recent years: "Maybe our team [will] change the name again next year. Then I can say a different team," the driver laughed. "But, let's see. It depends on my performance, I guess."
Tsunoda does not seem to want to leave
The Japanese was clear about his fondness for being part of the Red Bull setup, he continued. "Obviously, I would like to stay in this Red Bull family. In any way, if I go to Red Bull Racing, that’s amazing. If not, still, I would love to be part of the team, being in this team already five years. I'm probably the most [experienced] driver with this team."
"Feeling already really connected to every people, which is, for me, very important as a driver to develop myself and focus on what I want to do. Every people now in our team is facing the same direction. I feel a lot of support from them, which means a lot to me," he explained why he enjoys working with his current environment.
Still, the upcoming season will definitely be an interesting one for Tsunoda for multiple reasons. "Whatever happens, there can be interesting options. Obviously, my main target is to be at this team, in our Red Bull family," he concluded in London.
