No team will discard 2025, but much of the ten teams' personnel is already focused on next year, when the new regulations are set to be implemented. In 2026, Red Bull Racing will also take on its own engine project alongside Ford. For some time there have been persistent rumours that the Red Bull Powertrains are not as strong and reliable as once hoped.

Of course, Max Verstappen is keeping his finger on the pulse with regards to the development. In London, ahead of the presentation of the livery of the RB21, Verstappen was asked what he knows about the progress of the new RBPT-Ford engines.

"Everyone is just pushing flat out," the Dutchman began. "Everyone is doing their best. That's the only thing that you can do. They're just working very hard with 2026 as well. Of course, naturally, there is focus on 2026, but at the same time, also, we are focused on this year."

Verstappen won't be fooled

Verstappen has also heard the rumours surrounding the Red Bull Powertrains department lagging behind. Does he himself have doubts? "Yes, but everyone has that. I'm not going to say that it's going to be super easy to be immediately competitive, but we believe that we can do a good job and I believe what people tell me."

Verstappen, though, has different things on his mind. "Also, for me, I can stress about it, but it's just wasting energy. I guess we'll find out when the car hits the ground running and then we'll see. I don't like to be too worried in my life anymore. If it's bad, it's bad. If it's good, it's good. Life goes on," was Verstappen's comment.
