Aston Martin has set its sights on the ultimate prize—the Formula One world title. To make that dream a reality, the team is reportedly eager to lure Max Verstappen away from Red Bull Racing. According to a recent report from a British newspaper, Aston Martin could have as much as one billion pounds at its disposal to secure the Dutchman’s signature. But how realistic is this ambitious move?

Christian Horner, Verstappen's long-time team boss, has taken the rumours with a pinch of salt. "Look, I know you guys have all got columns to fill over a winter period," Horner began. "But for a billion dollars? It would be an eye-wateringly large amount of money," he explained to GPblog and others.

Once again, Christian Horner has emphasised his belief that Max Verstappen has no desire to leave Red Bull Racing."But I think Max is very happy in the environment that he's in. He's grown up in the team. He has a great relationship with the team and the engineers and the technicians and everybody that he works with."

Horner: 'Red Bull is well-positioned financially'

Horner understands that Verstappen's priority is winning. If Red Bull can no longer provide him with a competitive car, the question remains—what will he do next? "It's down to us to provide a competitive car and continue to give him the platform to be able to achieve the results that he has over the last almost ten years."

Finally, Horner circled back to the massive salary Aston Martin is reportedly willing to offer. "I can't comment on other teams' finances, but Red Bull are relatively well-positioned, I would think, compared to others within the pit lane."
