If the early signs are anything to go by, the 2025 Formula 1 season could be one of the most competitive in years. With four teams seemingly in contention for victories, the balance of power could shift from race to race. Max Verstappen welcomes the challenge but admits it's too soon to predict how the season will unfold.
Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull Racing—four top teams, tightly matched, battling for podiums and victories. "It would be nice, but it's impossible to answer right now, right?" Verstappen responded in a media interview at Tuesday's F1 75 Live with GPblog and others.
"I have not driven my car, and no-one has seen the other cars, so you can speculate about it. It's just a waste of energy, honestly, to think about that yet."
Verstappen has faith in Red Bull
Ultimately, Verstappen can only focus on Red Bull’s own performance. By the end of last season, the team often struggled to stay competitive. Whether they can turn things around in 2025 remains to be seen.
According to Verstappen, the main goal for Red Bull is clear: "Well, honestly, we just hope to be competitive as a team. If we are competitive as a team, then I'm sure that we can win it again, because I think we are a very strong team.
"We are very experienced, and I think we showed that also last year. It was a bit tougher for us. We were still maximising our results, and that's, I think, a big strength of the team. So, yeah, let's see. It's exciting. I mean, I don't know where we are at at the moment. I think no-one knows that, and in a few weeks we'll know."
