Lewis Hamilton has been a Ferrari man for a month now. On Wednesday, he was in action in the new Ferrari, the SF-25. As a seven-time world champion, he brings a lot of experience to the Scuderia. Frederic Vasseur therefore confirmed to GPblog and others that the Italian team has already received suggestions from the Briton to improve the performance of the new car.

Vasseur: 'Gap with McLaren was only 14 points'

"This is true for every single driver on the grid," Vasseur responded when asked if he had gotten any input from Hamilton. "They all are part of the development of the car, of the evolution of the car. And for sure, Lewis is the first stage of this collaboration because he did only two TPCs and is now on track. But for sure, the feedback is always important. The feedback is helping the team to develop and to do a better job."

The Ferrari team boss continued, "And even if it's on small details, what we have to keep in mind is that last year, we finished 14 points behind McLaren. It means that it's less than one point per race. On average, it's three hundredths [of a] second between us and the guy in front of us on the grid. It means that we are always speaking about details."

'Experience Hamilton is going to help Ferrari'

Thus, it is necessary to ask, does Ferrari need big changes? "It's not a matter of changing the car completely. If we are able to bring a small bit of performance on one or two topics, it's already a huge step forward. And Lewis is coming with his own experience, with his own background. And it will help the team for sure to develop on every single area. For sure, we'll do a quick comparison between the two engines, between the two chassis, how we operate on track. And us as a team, we have to avoid to be shy and try to understand where we can improve. And this is my job and the job of the technicians."
