Waché happy with Lawson's feedback: 'Matches Verstappen's'
Red Bull Racing opted to drive with Liam Lawson in the car all day today. This meant Max Verstappen was not in action on Thursday. However, Pierre Waché said the feedback Lawson gave was in line with that of the Dutchman.
Waché is happy with Lawson
"We decided to do a full day with Liam today, to continue to prepare him ahead of the season," began Red Bull's technical director. "Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, with some rain at the beginning of the day, so we decided to do a race simulation, to get Liam up to speed with long runs and to check the car for general reliability across race distance."
Waché continued, " In the afternoon, our aim was to understand the car with the C3 compound and the set up options and to also explore the set up of the car in general. We had wanted to get a total insight into the car today, and understand its full direction, but it was also difficult to judge the performance of the car in these conditions and get a lot of the temperature on the tyres."
"Liam responded well today and his feedback was very close to Max’s. We have good understandings to take into the final day of Testing now, with Max at the wheel," concluded the Frenchman.
Verstappen on for final day of testing in Bahrain
Verstappen will be in action on Friday and it will be with new parts on the car, as previously mentioned. The morning session starts at 07:00 GMT and runs until 11:00, before resuming again after a one hour lunch break, at 12:00, for the final four hours of activity during the afternoon session which will end at 16:00 GMT.
