Tsunoda splits with managers after missing out on Red Bull seat
F1 News

Yuki Tsunoda was once considered a potential successor to Sergio Pérez at Red Bull Racing, but ultimately, the seat went to his then-teammate, Liam Lawson. In the aftermath of that decision, the Japanese driver has now confirmed that he parted ways with his former managers, Mario Miyakawa and Luis Alvarez.
“I am not working [with] Mario anymore, and Luis as well,” Tsunoda confirmed to Motorsport.com. He has now joined forces with Mexican Diego Menchaca, who thoroughly understands the motorsport industry. So far, the Racing Bulls driver is hugely satisfied with his new manager.
Tsunoda explains that Menchaca is doing his utmost to build a relationship with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, so he does not seem to have given up on his goal of driving for Red Bull just yet. “I’m really happy with Diego. He’s motivated, definitely. Once we decided to work together, he immediately went to Helmut’s [Marko, Red Bull advisor] office to build a relationship. That kind of effort, I really appreciate - and obviously, Helmut did too. They already have a good relationship, which is a good start. But in the end, the most important thing is to perform on track, which will make Diego’s life easier.”
Who is Diego Menchaca?
Diego Menchaca has had a long career in motorsport, starting in karting in 2006 before transitioning to single-seaters in 2011. Over the years, the Mexican driver competed in various categories, including Formula Renault, Formula 4, Formula 3, and GP3. Until last year, he was still active in the GT class, but in 2025, he is shifting his focus entirely to his new career as a manager.
In addition to Tsunoda, he also manages Danish talent Noah Strømsted, who is racing in Formula 3 with Trident this season.
