For Arvid Lindblad, the road to Formula 1 is completely open. The Red Bull Junior Team's greatest talent has enough points, in theory, to attain a Super Licence after his title win in a New Zealand-based championship. Only thing left to prove now is that the young Briton (17) does indeed deserve a seat at Racing Bulls or perhaps even Red Bull Racing.
That Lindblad will race in Formula 2 next season on behalf of Campos, that much is clear. What else is in store for the Briton? Officially, it is not yet known, although the expectation is that Lindblad may jump into one of Red Bull's four cars for a FP1 during the upcoming F1 season.
Lindblad expects extraordinary things from himself
In any case, expectations from the outside world are high, the Briton himself realises. But from Red Bull Racing - the team that sees in Lindblad the new Max Verstappen - they are trying not to put immense pressure on their brilliant up-and-comer. Specific targets for the upcoming racing season have therefore not been discussed, Lindblad told a number of media outlets, including GPblog.
"No. Not that I'm aware of, obviously," Lindblad states. "The expectation is quite high, but there hasn't been any sort of clear, fixed goal. I expect a lot from myself. I put a lot of pressure on myself. So I'm very focused on working hard and trying to be competitive and have a good year, because as I've said before, that's the thing that's gonna give me the best opportunity [to get into F1]."
Like Formula 1, F2 drivers start their 2025 season in Australia, with the first races taking place during the weekend in Melbourne.
