Verstappen exposes RB21's biggest problem

Verstappen explains the RB21's biggest problem entering 2025

Max Verstappen does not expect to fight for the victory already in Australia, as the world champion begins his title defence next week. The Dutch driver sees that the RB21 is not the car he had hoped for, and while it does show improvement, one important problem remains with the RB21.

Verstappen to insist on improvements

Over the course of the second half of the 2024 season, Max Verstappen did not have the best of time in the RB20. One issue he constantly mentioned was the balance of the car, especially in Monza where the two Red Bull drivers finished in P7 and P8 respectively. Did the RB21 make a step in that regard?

"In terms of balance, it does feel a bit better now on corner entry and in the middle of the corner. But on the other hand, there are still problems with the kerbs and with the bumps," Verstappen began at a press event in Zandvoort, where GPblog was present.

Verstappen therefore wants to continue to work on this issue, and he communicates that clearly to his team. "Those things are obviously not our strong points with us and I keep hammering on that. Of course it doesn't always have to be said to the outside world, but of course during the meetings there is a lot of talk about that."

Verstappen is well-known for not being a big fan of understeer, and explained the Austrians need to work on that as well. "That can also be improved," was the four-time world champion's verdict. The 2025 Formula 1 season will begin with a doubleheader, as the grid first travels next week to Australia, then a Sprint weekend will follow immediately in China.
