Sky Sports analyst Naomi Schiff does not believe there is such a thing as British bias in Formula 1. On the other hand, she argued that the British adore Max Verstappen's exceptional qualities.
While Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and also Briton Adrian Newey says there is bias against drivers who not from the United Kingdom, Sky Sports argue there is no such thing. Now, the channel's analyst, Naomi Schiff had the same thoughts on the matter.
"Well, first of all, I think his efforts are always recognised. I don’t think there’s any doubt ever about the magic that Max creates when he’s in a race car," she began.
The Rwandan and Belgian former driver could only praise the defending world champion herself. "He’s got a supernatural talent, and I think he got so much out of that Red Bull that wasn’t even there. He drew every little second out of that car, every little millisecond out of it, and really put on a performance that was truly super respectable."
Schiff with doubts about Verstappen in '25
Verstappen could now win his fifth world drivers' title in a row in 2025. Schiff therefore is not so sure about the Dutchman claiming the championship this campaign with Red Bull Racing, naming the departing Adrian Newey as one of the reasons for that.
"This year is going to be different. No Adrian Newey, for example, although Adrian is going to be working very hard at Aston to get that car a little bit quicker. But it’s going to be a different playing field starting off this season, for sure," she concluded.
