Before the race weekend started, Oscar Piastri said that he enjoyed the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Piastri placed behind his teammate, Lando Norris, in both free practice sessions. He placed fourth in FP1 and second in FP2. During Thursday’s press day, Piastri was asked how he felt about the circuit especially given that some see it as dangerous with it’s low visibility and high speeds.
He replied, “I'm not too concerned, to be honest.”
Piastri seems to be on the same page as many other drivers. Charles Leclerc
said something similar regarding the track and how dangerous it could be.
Piastri isn't concerned
Piastri continued, “I think it's a track with a lot of grip, very high speed as well, which normally if you're having any moments in the high speed, I don't think it really matters what characteristics your car has.”
So far, the
McLaren MCL39 has proven to be the more dominant car on track. Compared to other teams, such as Red Bull Racing, they are not having the same issues with tyre graining or oversteer/understeer.
He mentioned, “You're probably pushing a bit too hard or you've got too much front end in the car so I'm not really too concerned”
“It’s a track I've always enjoyed and I’m looking at forward to getting out there”
