Verstappen hopes that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be better for him than the Bahrain GP. During the Thursday press conference, he mentioned he was curious to see how Pirelli's tyre choices held up. He said, "I hope a bit better than Bahrain. I mean, a few more high-speed corners, different tarmac. I hope that we can be a bit more competitive and maybe a bit more in the middle between the two races, potentially."
Will Red Bull make a two-stop?
It's clear that Red Bull is currently struggling with their tyres. They seem to wear down faster than the other top teams (like McLaren). Pirelli have opted to bring a softer tyre to Jeddah this year.
To that, Verstappen said, "In general, here it’s always been a bit like a one-stop race. And I think there’s always a bit more going on when you try and have maybe a two-stop or whatever. But let’s see first how the tyres are going to hold up. It’s going to be quite warm as well to drive."
