What happened so far this weekend?

In the Sprint, Lewis Hamilton led from start to finish after claiming pole on Friday, and earned Ferrari's first-ever victory in the event that was first introduced back in the 2021 season. Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen completed the podium. Lando Norris however only finished in P8. Therefore, entering the Grand Prix, the gap between Norris and Verstappen in the drivers' standings is only two points.

The two drivers will line up alongside each other, however, only on the second row of the grid, as neither the Briton nor the defending world champion improve on their second flying lap in Q3. In the end, it was Oscar Piastri who claimed his first-ever F1 pole position in qualifying. George Ruseell will start from alongside the Australian. The two Ferrari drivers qualified on the third row, in the order of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

Isack Hadjar also had a positive session, as the Racing Bulls driver finished seventh and ahead of fellow rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli. On the other hand, Liam Lawson once again did not have the best of sessions. Similarly to Sprint Qualifying, he once again finished last.
