Nikita Mazepin will test the Mercedes car in Barcelona this week
Formula 2 driver Nikita Mazepin will drive the Mercedes Formula 1 car this week. He will complete a days action, with Valtteri Bottas driving the Silver Arrow on the other test day.
Lewis Hamilton, Sunday's race winner, will not drive in the post-Spanish Grand Prix test. Mazepin is not a stranger to Formula 1 tests. He drove for Force India in previous seasons and got a chance to drive the 2017 Mercedes car.
Mazepin's father was associated with buying out Force India, a deal which instead went to Lawerence Stroll. The Russian driver is currently 16th in Formula 2, picking up just four points.
