Rumour: Red Bull could replace Gasly with Nico Hulkenberg
Pierre Gasly hasn't had the best of starts to life at Red Bull Racing despite showing signs of improvement but it could be about to get a whole lot worse for him, with Nico Hulkenberg reportedly being lined up to replace him.
Just as he was settling in could it be all change for Gasly? Well, that is what the Italian site of Motorsport.com are suggesting with German Nico Hulkenberg being lined up to replace him. Helmut Marko is known for not being afraid to replace drivers when he doesn't like what he's seeing, and according to Motorsport, contact has been made between Red Bull and Hulkenberg, whose contract at Renault expires at the end of this season.
Hulkenberg is a surprise name to be linked with Red Bull Racing. Usually, a team built on their ability to bring young drivers through their academy and into their F1 setup. Hulkenberg is currently 31 and has been in the pinnacle of motorsport since 2010 when he made his debut in Bahrain.
However, the team might be looking for a cool, composed head in the form of Hulkenberg with all the action in the form of Max Verstappen. Could Red Bull's desire for calmness and composure spell the end for Pierre Gasly?
