Ferrari ask for review of Vettel's penalty in Canada
- Bobby Vincent
Ferrari has asked the FIA to review Sebastian Vettel's five-second penalty he was penalised with at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Vettel was handed a penalty after coming back onto the track "in an unsafe manner", when going wide at a corner - leading Lewis Hamilton - who won the race despite Vettel crossing the line before his title rival.
Ferrari don't think Vettel was at fault, as he was trying to control his SF90 whilst on the grass in Montreal. The penalty could not be appealed because of the FIA's rules and regulations. However, the International Sporting Code allows teams to ask if the FIA will be able to review the incident prior to the race.
The Italian manufacturer had up until Sunday to officially ask for a review, with the team confirming they sent a letter to the FIA with the question on Tuesday afternoon.
Ferrari believe Vettel was denied his and the team's first win of the season unfairly, with the German not breaking the rules and regulations with his re-entry to the circuit.
