SportPesa charity donation provides "extra motivation" for Perez and Stroll
SportPesa Racing Point are raising money for Breast Cancer Care at the British Grand Prix. The team's title sponsor will donate £1,000 for every position gained during today's race. SportPesa has a history of raising money for the charity and are thought to have already raised well over £212,000 since 2017. They aim to have donated a total well over £250,000 by 2020.
"We are proud of the work that has been done through our partnership with Breast Cancer Care, and it’s great to see SportPesa joining our efforts to raise further awareness and funds," said SportPesa Racing Point team boss Otmar Szafnauer.
"The work of this charity makes a real difference to those people affected by breast cancer and with SportPesa’s commitment, we will surpass the £250,000 fundraising target we set two years ago.
"SportPesa’s idea adds some fun to proceedings and is a wonderful way to combine our performance on track with raising money for such an important cause."
The drivers will use this as an incentive to perform.
"I need to have a good race!" Sergio Perez said. "It will be an extra motivation. Not having a great qualifying means I can have a fantastic race and hopefully the first lap will be good."
The Mexican will start 15th with his teammate Lance Stroll down in 18th so there is plenty of opportunities for the team to overtake and raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
