Red Bull explain their grid repairs just moments before the race!
Just moments before the start of the British Grand Prix on Sunday, Red Bull mechanics were changing the rear wings of both Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly, and now team boss Christian Horner has revealed why the team had to make the furious changes on the grid.
It turns out that both drivers had cracks in their rear wings, and for fear of the cracks getting bigger and causing issues in the race, the team decided it was best to hurriedly change them.
According to GPFans.com, Horner said: "One of the mechanics doing one of the checks found a crack in the rear wing of Max, so we applied to get permission to change it.
"Then, there was an inspection on Pierre’s and we could see the very start of a crack appearing in the same place. So permission to change them both was granted just as a security, and we did that."
