Juan Manuel Correa in stable condition after tragic accident in Formula 2
A huge accident during the Formula 2 race at Spa yesterday resulted in the tragic passing of Anthoine Hubert. Juan Manuel Correa, the driver who hit the Frenchman at full speed was also transported to the hospital via air ambulance. Fortunately, the American is currently in a stable state after emergency surgery.
Correa came up the hill at Eau Rouge and couldn't move out of the way when Hubert flew sideways across the track after coming into contact with the wall. Correa sustained two broken legs in the crash and a minor injury to his spine.
In a statement, Sauber Correa's team announced the American is now in a stable state in intensive care.
“At the moment his condition is stable. He was transported by helicopter to the hospital, where he had surgery. Juan Manuel has remained conscious all the time, until just before the operation."
