Ricciardo lashes out at critics after beating both Red Bulls in Italy
Daniel Ricciardo has had his move to Renault questioned by many during the 2019 Formula 1 season, but today he gets his chance to shout after a fourth-place finish in the Italian Grand Prix.
The Australian started from P5 but had some work to do during the Grand Prix. He overtook his teammate Nico Hulkenberg and pitted under a virtual safety car to hold onto fourth place.
"Since Canada, we haven't actually achieved good results, so this is great for the team. The pit stop under the Virtual Safety Car provided a nice buffer, making it into fourth place. We were also really good for that place in terms of pace, although Sebastian did help us of course," Ricciardo told SkySports.
"This is a unique job, so you don't know what we can do with this on subsequent jobs, but I think we can learn from this. It is especially nice for the team and my compliments go to the engine factory. They have received a lot of criticism, but still deliver a great performance on such a circuit today," concludes the Australian.
