Gasly reflects on "Hollywood movie" 2019 season
Pierre Gasly's 2019 has had it all, highs, lows and plenty of drama. The man himself has been reflecting on his season and admitted his season has been like a Hollywood movie.
Gasly started the season with Red Bull after the departure of Daniel Ricciardo but some poor form meant he was dropped down to Toro Rosso. The Frenchman was replaced by Alex Albon, but scored his best finished of the season back at his old team, finishing second at the Brazilian Grand Prix to jubilant scenes.
In an interview with Motorsportweek.com Gasly admitted some of his friends described his season as a Hollywood movie.
"Yes, it was a tough season. I was with some friends who said to me recently: "Your year was like a Hollywood movie, a story in which so many things happened that it can hardly be true," Gasly said.
"That is how it feels for me personally. I went through all kinds of emotions, from anger and frustration to enormous sadness.
"I have perhaps experienced the saddest moment of my life, at Spa with [the death of] Anthoine, and two months later one of the happiest moments with my first F1 podium.
"It was such a roller coaster ride and at the same time very educational as a person and as a driver."
