Berger believes there is room for Vettel and Leclerc at Ferrari
Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel went toe to toe in 2019, and on a few occasions collided. Gerhard Berger believes there is room for both of them at Ferrari and it can help get the best out of the car.
Leclerc beat Vettel in the Drivers' Championship this season, the Monegasque scored two victories to the German's one. Leclerc's two wins included a victory at Monza which led to incredible scenes after the race. Vettel's only won came in controversial fashion as he won the Singapore Grand Prix.
At the penultimate race in Brazil, the pair collided, causing both of them to retire from the race. Berger believes there is room for both of them at the Scuderia.
“The advantage is that as a team, you fully squeeze the lemon with your technology in that situation,” Berger told Servus TV.
“The disadvantage is that someone has to manage it. But looking back, that’s what the successful teams have always done.
“Frank Williams always had the two fastest cars he could get, and even Enzo Ferrari was careful to put pressure on the number one and be open to making him the number two.
“Leclerc is fast and fresh, he has also won over the hearts of the Italians. Next year Sebastian has to go on a proper attack."
