Bottas expecting plenty of driver speculation come the summer
Valtteri Bottas is set for another year at Formula 1's top table with Mercedes but he's still expecting lots of speculation come the summer. However, the Finn has insisted he's focused on doing his own job.
After a very challenging 2018 Bottas enjoyed his best season in 2019, winning four races and leading the early stages of the season. Despite being unable to push Lewis Hamilton all the way, the form of the former-Williams driver was enough to see him gain another contract at the Silver Arrows for 2020.
Bottas is pleased with the situation he is in and is set to start from scratch but he is expecting the rumour mill to start turning in the summer.
“Yes, I think that’s a good situation,” Bottas told the Finnish broadcaster MTV Sport.
“I have a contract for this year and after that the team and I have nothing whatsoever at the moment. Let’s go from scratch.
“There will definitely be a lot of speculation in the driver market early in the summer.
“Obviously everyone wants to have something for next year, or more, just as they did. That’s what it comes down to but there’s no pressure.
“I’m just going to look for my own goals and do the job and do it for myself."
