Bottas sends a warning: "I have found a new strength and energy"
Valtteri Bottas will once again line-up next to Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The Finnish driver stormed out of the blocks at last season's Australian Grand Prix but couldn't keep up with his teammate going into the summer break period. The 30-year-old insists he's found a new strength and energy as he pushes for a world championship title.
The aim of all the top drivers will be prevent Hamilton from emerging as a seven-time world champion at the conclusion of the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Bottas has the car to challenge Hamilton, but can he find enough wins to defeat the Brit?
"I have found a new strentgh and energy for this year. There's still time to go through things and get ready, but things have started already. Basically, I'm ready to jump in the car now. My own performance hasn't quite peaked yet. All mitakes must be eliminated. Last year, sometimes I paid for that in points but there is and will be more momentum than before," Bottas told Finnish broadcaster MTV.
Ultimately, Bottas finished 87 points behind last year's title winner. He annouced a split from his wife Emila towards the end of the 2019 season and will again be looking for a refresh through the winter break.
