Chinese Grand Prix could be cancelled after virus outbreak
The Chinese Grand Prix could be under threat after the outbreak of Coronavirus, with the announcement that motorsport events will be cancelled until April. The Chinese GP is on April 19, but there is potential for an extension of the period.
25 people have now been killed by the virus, with nearly 1,000 confirmed to be infected with it. Chinese authorities have made moves to lock down the cities the virus started, so motorsport is probably pretty low on their list of priorities.
The ePrix in Sanya is likely to be cancelled on March 21, and if the Grand Prix in Shanghai is cancelled, the calendar would be probably shortened to 21 races, with rearranging being a logistical nightmare.
