David Richards has a rich history in motorsport and is founder of Prodrive, a technology company. He was also part of the cradle of Aston Martin Racing and has hesitated several times to start his own Formula 1 team.

The Englishman is pleased that this did not happen. "Probably I would have been bankrupt by now". Richards is former team boss of BAR and Benetton. He was also a navigator in rallying in the 80's. Several times he almost entered Formula 1 with his company Prodrive. In 2007 he was in consultation with McLaren but that was not possible because of other projects he was involved in. Richards doesn't know if it will ever happen again:

"It's not easy to keep your head above water in that world. That is a great challenge, especially now. I take my hat off to the people who do now. Whether it's going to come of it in the future? It seems unlikely to me," said Richards to RaceFans.

How many teams are going to survive the coronary pandemic is still unclear. There's a lot of talk about the smaller teams falling down, depending on how long the virus will last.
