'Vettel refuses new one-year contract proposal from Ferrari with less salary'

The contract of Sebastian Vettel expires at the end of 2020 and where Sky Italia previously reported that Vettel will have to do it with a much lower amount, there is now news that the German has rejected the proposal.
Vettel came in 2015 as the new leader to Ferrari. The German wanted to follow his idol Michael Schumacher and also become world champion with Ferrari, but after several failures Ferrari chooses a different route with Charles Leclerc. The Italians do want to keep Vettel, but under certain conditions.
Vettel worth much less
According to La Gazetta dello Sport, Ferrari has only twelve million euros left for the four-time world champion and wants to offer the German even a one-year extension. This was not what Vettel was waiting for. According to the Italian medium, the German refused.
The question now is whether the negotiations will be continued. Vettel reportedly wants a two-year contract and will not want to surrender so much of his current salary of 40 million euros. It remains to be seen whether the two parties will come to an agreement or whether Ferrari will look for a cheaper and younger alternative.
