Ocon: 'With a shortened season, there's no room for DNF's'

The 2020 season will be shorter than initially planned, so much is now clear with the many postponements of races and several cancellations. With a shorter season the drivers will have less room to score points and so it is very important to be as successful as possible if you want to have a chance. That is what Esteban Ocon says, who indicates that dropping out is not an option.
Riskier
The goal this year is still to drive fifteen to eighteen races, but there may be less, as the impact of the coronavirus is unpredictable. In any case, a shorter and faster season puts a lot of work pressure on the drivers and teams, so making mistakes can happen faster. Exactly what needs to be prevented if a team is to stay at the top.
To Sky Sports Ocon says: "There's not going to be any 'joker' [results], there's no place for DNFs. It's going to be very important to finish all the races, score all the points available, and get it to the finish."
More races
Ocon does believe that many races are better for the championship, where he sets a minimum of ten races. Officially, eight races on different continents are enough for an official championship, but Ocon would like to see more races. Also because more races give more room for possible mistakes.
"The most [races] we can do, the better it would be for a championship. I agree that a good 10 races, if we can do that or more, would be still valid. There is enough races and it's the same for everyone to determine who is the best and who is not in the end."
But the most important thing for Ocon is that there will be racing at all: "As long as we can race, I am happy," the Frenchman concludes.
