Many current and former Formula 1 drivers have taken up sim racing since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Also Nico Rosberg and David Coulthard will take place in a digital racing chair, to race against each other in the Heineken Legends Challenge on Sunday evening.
It is the third time that Heineken organizes a special race. First Lando Norris was allowed to defend his honour, then other racers could compete against George Russell and Nicholas Latifi and now it's the veterans' turn.
Contrary to the other Heineken Challenge series, the setup of the event has changed a lot. In the first round Rosberg and Coulthard will compete together with Roberto Carlos and Robert Doornbos in one-on-one battles. The winners of the duel may then compete against each other on the Red Bull Ring.
Racing against influencers
The four drivers will then compete on the Yas Marina Circuit in a race over five laps, with an opposite starting position based on the first challenge. For the final challenge, 18 influencers and content creators will be on the field in a final race against Rosberg and Coulthard.
The Heineken Legends Challenge will be held on Saturday evening May 17th, at 18:00 BST. Viewers can follow the race via F1.com, Twitch, Facebook and YouTube.
