Sainz owes a lot to Red Bull, but "Verstappen was there"

With the announcement that he will be driving for Ferrari in 2021, Carlos Sainz finally found his way to the top. He breaks the pattern that Toro Rosso drivers who are not picked up by Red Bull Racing have no future in Formula 1.
You could say that the marriage between the Sainz family and Red Bull wasn't always a happy one. For example, Helmut Marko has criticised on more than one occasion the fact that father Sainz leaked internal affairs through the media, putting pressure on the team. In the end Sainz took refuge with Renault at the end of 2017. Now that Sainz will be driving for a top team at Ferrari, Sainz Senior would also like to thank Red Bull in the development of his son.
"It's a race stable to which he owes a lot. We have a lot of respect for Marko and Horner," he says to Sky Sports Italia. "But no one has a crystal ball to predict the future: Get out of there and we didn't know if Ricciardo would leave or not and we decided to take a step forward. Looking back is pointless now. If you work well, the chance will come, and if it comes, you have to take it with both hands, three if necessary."
Furthermore, he is very proud of the way his son has developed in recent years. Carlos jr. works exceptionally hard according to the Rally-champion and his famous surname has sometimes worked against him. So he can be proud, but for next season he will have to focus completely on McLaren.
