Is this Bottas' last season at Mercedes?
- GPblog.com
The manager of Valtteri Bottas would have already spoken to Renault to see if the Finn can fill Daniel Ricciardo's empty seat in 2021. According to Robert Doornbos, Giedo van der Garde and Tom Coronel, Bottas fears for his place at Mercedes.
Multiple drivers aces on the seat
"Sweat runs through his buttock", says Doornbos at the Dutch television programme Formula 1 Cafe at Ziggo Sport. "Of course, he's the first one to get kicked at Mercedes." According to Doornbos there are several drivers who aces on the seat of Bottas. Among them is the talented George Russell, who already let us know that he dislikes that everyone gets a good seat and he is still at Williams.
And the fact that Sebastian Vettel does not have a seat yet in 2021 can also play a major role. A German driver racing for a German car manufacturer is of course always a good option. And when that German driver already has four world titles in his pocket, it becomes even more interesting.
Hamilton
Coronel is not so sure yet: "I think Lewis Hamilton has a lot to say about who his teammate is going to be. Rest in the team is of course super important."
Van der Garde expects that Hamilton will not be so worried about the possible arrival of Vettel: "If Daimler (parent company Mercedes, red) wants a German to get in that car, he will. But Hamilton won't be so worried about that, because he knows he can beat Vettel".
