Rain on the way for the Styrian Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing has a drawback
- GPblog.com
The Austrian Grand Prix saw rain on the Friday morning, but stayed dry the rest of the weekend. A week later during the Steiermark Grand Prix there seems to be much more chance of rain and also at decisive moments.
This weekend Alfa Romeo and Williams will use all their reserve drivers during the first free practice and other teams might do the same. Not only have we already had a weekend in Austria, but the circumstances are totally unrepresentative for the rest of the weekend.
Cold race
According to Weather.com, Friday is mainly sunny and no less than 30 degrees in Spielberg. That temperature plunges on Saturday when it rains and only 18 degrees is expected during the third free practice and qualifying session. For the time being the race remains dry, but the temperature remains at twenty degrees.
While Red Bull Racing got better and better over the weekend and continuously indicated that the rising temperature would work to their advantage, this weekend could be different. Mercedes has traditionally had an advantage in the cold and would benefit greatly from these conditions.
