These are the possible replacements for Sergio Perez in British Grand Prix
- GPblog.com
Just before Sergio Perez had to speak to the media at the press conference at the Silverstone circuit, Racing Point announced that he could not be there due to an uncertain result of his last coron test. Should he be found positive, we may see someone else in his car this weekend.
Last winter Mercedes shifted its reserve drivers quite a bit back and forth. Because Racing Point is strongly linked to the Mercedes factory team, it's not surprising that things have changed there as well and the names of their reserve drivers are not known to everyone.
Formula E gets in Vandoorne's way
In the first place there is the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne, who came over from McLaren two years ago and is now driving for Mercedes in Formula E. That last fact is immediately the reason why it is unlikely that we will see him in action at Silverstone this weekend. Formula E will be racing in Berlin this weekend.
That leaves Esteban Gutierrez, he is available and so one Mexican would replace the other in that case. However, it remains to be seen whether Racing Point can start at all in case of a positive test. The other team members in their bubble would all have to be declared negative first.
